This is Sigourney Reverb’s first record. This record will make your day better. This ain’t the Kinks and it ain’t X or the Pixies. It certainly ain’t no saintly T-Rex and it is ridiculously catchy and it is ketchup-raw and bloody but still deliciously sweet. But not as sweet as Jonathon Richman and the Modern Lovers. Well, maybe not.
Fourteen songs, twelve with hooks, thirty minutes and fifty-five seconds. Songs about Birds & Worms & Dirt, Student Loan Payments, Unrequited/Not Unrequited Love, Sex, and Drowning. No songs about Sonic Mind-Control Rays.
The Reverbs are Kings of the 65th Street Ballard Scene, a separatist community located in Seattle, WA, and home to hipsters, musicians, fisherman, and Scandinavians. A few months ago, the males assembled to play some Eric songs. They received a warm reception from the neighborhood Café society, but something was wrong. Suddenly, Eric has a chance meeting with Lori on a bus and abducts her from another band. Complete. All done. All good.
Sigourney Reverb is Eric Padget, Singing, Guitar Playing, Songwriting and Deep Concepts; Lori Baron - most of the Lead Guitar playing and some Vocal Shenanigans; Shawn Lines – Bass and Sympathy; and Donny Craggs – Drums, Belly Shots and dubious Philosophy.
