Our own Mark Roberts wrote and sang this song. Dave Barnett helped cowrite it but Mark gets the real credit. We recorded it at Dave's home studio in Leavenworth, KS. Scott McCuiston on drums and Brad Brown on bass guitar. This song hits close to home for all of us as Americans and the price we all pay for our Freedom, directly or indirectly. God Bless our Troops and their Families past, present and future.
Mark was first inspired to create a song like this from his friendship with a military family he met while they were stationed at Fort Leavenworth, KS. It was inevitable that the husband would ship out to Iraq and he soon got the order to go. Of course the soldier's wife was somewhat ready for this and she showed her strength and patriotic duty herself. As she stood beside her husband and let him know that she would take care of the homefront while he was away. It was then that Mark realized that it was not only the soldier who was at war and needed to be brave, she too had the same burden and the dangers he faced were just as much hers.
Not long after this, two of Marks children would become soldiers wives themselves. Then his son joined and his new daughter in law became the third soldier's wife in the family. Fortunately no one in this family has paid the ultimate price and we pray that no one anywhere will have to. The reality is that many have and we wanted to recognize those and remember that they have paid a high price for our Freedom too and continue to do so. It is our hope that this song is a reminder that we are all in this together. Thank a Soldier, Thank a Soldier's Wife, for their service to our country and way of life. That we are free to write a song like this and that you can agree or disagree with it and still live in peace.
We pray for Peace
Thank you
