notes

This CD is a collection of songs written during a week in April of 2004, when I spent 5 days leading songwriting workshops with the Silcock family. The Silcocks are a wonderful family from Southern, California with 30 adopted sons. For more information about the family, see their website (www.allourboys.com). It was an incredible week, with some songs coming from groups (such as "Saint Ann" - written as a suprise for the their mom for her birthday, or "Easter Egg Lotto" - about a Silcock family game). Other songs were written in one-on-one sessions with different boys, who shared some of their incredible life-stories with me in the process. By the end of the week, we had funny songs, tear-jerkers, rock songs, country songs, ballads, even some blues and punk, reflecting the diverse backgrounds and interests of the boys. The boys wrote most of the words, and often the melodies as well. Listen to the sound samples and decide for yourself - I think they put together an impressive body of work! The proceeds from this CD are going to "Friends of First Step" (a non-profit organization offering financial grants to individuals, with a variety of disabilties, to participate in recreational activities in their communities). Enjoy the songs! - Dave Nachmanoff

"Wow! What a project. Jim and I can't believe it. What started out simply as our sons participating in a song writing workshop with Dave Nachmanoff has now turned into a full fledged CD. The family related songs on this CD were written by our boys... children, formerly ophans and once considered "unadoptable." The boys worked hard on their songs and shared a lot about themselves along the way. Putting this CD together has been both exciting and carthartic for the whole family. we are very proud of their hard work. We hope you enjoy the CD." - Ann Belles (aka Mom)
