Q & A
Q What is Power Piano Rock?
A It's a term that a fan came up with at a show. We had never heard it before, but when we thought about it, it fits better than just "Alternative Piano Rock". That gives a little too much room to the imagination.
Q What was your favorite show?
A There are a ton actually. My favorite shows included a Columbus, OH show that was in a warehouse styled bar. We had wireless mics, so we ended up walking to the other side of the warehouse, getting up on the actual bar and playing to the people in the back. At a House of Blues show in Hollywood, I ran into Dan Akroyd, Brittany Murphy and Kevin Spacey in the same night which was pretty cool and now that I think about it, I actually had George Clooney sit down next to me at one of my shows in Hollywood as well. He was a really nice guy.
Q What bands are you currently listening to?
A There are a lot of bands that I am in to all the time including some of my biggest influences - Ben Folds, Our Lady Peace, Rufus Wainwright, Tori Amos, Guster & Pearl Jam. Some of the more current stuff I've been into is Muse, Postal Service, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and some others. I'm a sucker for piano so usually I have a fair amount of music with piano in it around.
Q Any good stories from the road?
A Lots, but most recently on a West Coast Mini tour, we were booked at a club that was trying to do a change over from heavy metal to more of a singer/songwriter thing (which is sort of funny in itself) and we were the first band to bring in the change over. I started the set and was getting kind of a lousy response so I started looking really closely at the crowd and saw a lot of Pantera and Metallica shirts and it occurred to me what was going on. I made a shift in the set and things turned out alright, but it was a little scary for a while. They looked like they were going to string me up.
Q Any advice for other bands?
A Yeah, look at the t-shirts the crowd is wearing before you start playing your set.

Rare combination of melody, soul, and emotion.

The heartfelt songs allow you to feel the emotions that the artist felt when writing them. "Fall Away" takes you from highs to lows, all while making you feel included in the moments that inspired it. One of the best independent/up and coming artists around. You will not be disappointed with this album!

This album is fantastic.

This CD rocks!! I am not a huge music afficienado. In fact I tend to listen to talk radio, so when something grabs me enough to buy it, and then to listen to it again and again I know it's something special! The lyrics are piercing in their depth and honesty and the music is diverse, distinct and captivating. I am recommending this album to all my friends and family!!

For an Indie artist, this album is a diamond in the rough.

REVIEW FROM SHAKE MAGAZINE (Nashville, TN)
The Silent Partner's debut release, "Fall Away" can best be described as hard driving power piano rock combined with strong melodies and graceful arrangements. The marriage of lyrical vocals, piano as the focal instrument, and harder alternative music have molded what is a unique and energy driven style.
Front man and writer Brad Shaw has a great sense of developing a song from beginning to end as though it is a story being told. His lyrics are no exception. In the title track of the album, "Fall Away", you can hear Shaw's vocals and lyrics coming at you with power. That and an exceptionally catchy melody makes me believe you might just hear this one on the radio. Additionally, the entire album's production is top notch, much to the caliber of the artists that Shaw has shared the stage with (including Jason Mraz, Michelle Penn and the Go Go's)
For an Indie artist, this album is a diamond in the rough. Seldom will you see such great production and songwriting incorporated together. If piano and alternative rock are your thing, I suggest you get your hands on this album when it comes out later this year.

Fall Away is a very wonderfully written and performed song! The piano sounds so beautiful, and the vocals are done with such amazing control and feeling! I really believe you will hear this one on the radio.
