Album Notes

William Simcoe is a classical guitarist who lives in Albany, New York with his wife Elizabeth, and sons John and Thomas.

He is an artist member of the Monday Musical Club of Albany, a Director in the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York.

He regularly performs solo recitals in the Albany area at the RPI Chapel + Cultural Center and the Hyde Collection Art Museum, and regularly performs in concerts of the Monday Muscical Club and the Guitar Society.

In 2001 he performed a joint recital with Towsend Plant, performed with cellist Lisa Nielson, and made radio and television appearances with the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York.

The Brouwer "Estudios Sencillos", or Simple Studies, are a wonderfully musical set of studies by the great Cuban composer/guitarist/conductor Leo Brouwer - one of the great guitar composers of our time.

The "Suite del Recuerdo" of Jose Luis Merlin is dedicated to the memory of many thousands of "disappeared ones" from the days of the military junta in Argentina.

This is very haunting, romantic music, with typical South American folk dances as the basis.

David Leisner's "Three Moons" is a dream-like piece for guitar and cello that was written for a New York dance troupe.
