Album Notes

SIMON CHAINSAW… Australian by birth and firmly rooted in the Australian Rock meets Punk tradition…. His roots draw on (among others) punks SAINT’S, RADIO BIRDMAN mixed with early AC/DC and ROSE TATTOO.

TOLD ME A LIE was recorded in Simon’s adopted homeland BRAZIL, and mixed in GERMANY. While definitely a PUNKRAWK’N’ROLL record, this discs nods to modern sounds like FOO FIGHTERS and WILDHEARTS but all the time maintaining true to roots like SOCIAL DISTORTION, MOTORHEAD, SAINTS, TSOL & early AC/DC.
A healthier recording budget makes this disc immediately more accessible, while retaining all the melody, wild solos and pent up anger that SIMON CHAINSAW is known for!

Hard rock tinged punk with hook laden sing along choruses and blistering solos. . ………A rooting, tooting rockfest ………should appeal to those who dig hard rock with a Punk n Roll influence. – GRAVYZINE.COM

There are 12 tracks here, all legs-akimbo-low-slung-guitars and heads-down driving tunes with fiery guitar licks and air-punching choruses. The Hippy Killers belongs to that particular garage rock’n’roll punk rock sound updated and made real again by Radio Birdman back in the late 70s and recently modernised by bands like Turbonegro and Hellacopters. This is unpretentious, straight-ahead rock’n’roll in the style of early AC/DC but rooted as much as in punk rock (The Ramones) as in great rockin’ early power-pop (Live in Budokan-era Cheap Trick). – RICECOOKER ZINE

The disc is more radio friendly than the previous (BASTA)…. has the potential to be on the top of the rock radio station charts all over the world... – ZONAPUNK.COM

SCHK bash through a whole slew of could-be hits here ….. Best part of the whole trip might be the crazy, dive-bombing leads …. but ultimately, it’s the gooey, chewy songs that’ll keep this one jammed on ‘repeat’ all summer long. Pretty smokin’ stuff. – SLEAZEGRINDER.COM
