ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Valentine contains 6 original compositions by Simon Mas, recorded on the 18th and 19th of August 2010 in Austin, TX, live at Infinity Studios.

It features Aaron Allen (bass), Aaron Easley (drums), Bennett Wood (alto sax), Erik Telford (trumpet), Gil Del Bosque (tenor sax), John Arndt (piano), Josh Balleza (trombone) and Simon Mas (vocals). The average age of the musicians is below 30, but they play with authority and passion that is rare to find.

The album has been recorded according to the old formula that has produced so many classics in the 1950s and 1960s: two rehearsals and two days in the studio. Almost no overdubs, little separation, no tricks mean a more classic sound that let your ears "breathe" and relax, concentrating on the sonic pleasure of the music. This is not the overproduced, overcompressed stuff running some kind of rat race dictated by today's music majors. This is music how it was meant to be: a pleasure to play and a pleasure to listen to.

Feel free to listen to the samples and imagine how much better this will sound in your stereo, while you're relaxing after a day of work, or on your ipod while you're waiting for the bus than never comes, or, why not, in the background, while you are holding your loved one...

Please note that you are buying a limited numbered edition of the album, issued in 100 copies. You never know, some of these musicians can make it big sooner than later, and your little support today might turn into a good investment!
