Album Notes

Char is a singer and songwriter based in Victoria, British Columbia, who sings with the Broad Leaf Killers. Her first EP release is Blame It on The Moon. Char’s diverse taste in music started when she was six years old, singing country songs while travelling the world with her parents. By the 1990s she was interested in alternative music, and after graduating from high school she took Applied Jazz studies at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. She majored in vocal jazz and graduated with honours. This course opened her eyes and ears to many new and old styles of music, and she started looking for new concepts and ideas for her music career. She had heard from some fellow musicians from the school how inspiring the West Coast was. Char packed her bags and moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Char’s EP release Blame it on the Moon reflects her tastes as an artist and individual. Now, Char and her band The Broad Leaf Killers are in the studio recording their first CD as a band. They have evolved into what they were born to play -- blues, rock, funk, and soul. Throughout the past months of performing live on Vancouver Island, Char has come into her own unique voice. With a solid, loyal band behind her there’s no stopping her now.....so watch out!!
