Album Notes

SINGLE serve up their own unique brand of rock 'n' roll with inventive pop smarts, a disciplined songwriting approach, and a tireless devotion to trying new things in the form of songs that affect listeners.

Singer/songwriter/rhythm guitar player Todd Herfindal and his hard-working four-piece band have rocked their devout West Coast fan base at shows with Matchbox Twenty, Train, Pete Yorn, Jimmy Eat World, Phantom Planet, and American Hi-Fi, Fountains of Wayne, Posies, and Alex Chilton. In a little over 2 years the band has developed a strong regional following in their native San Francisco Bay Area and has now relocated to Los Angeles to do the same. Single has just finished their debut full-length cd entitled "Welcome Nada", a collection of beautifully urgent pop songs. Tracks like "When You're Breaking," "Come Down Lovely, and "Is It On?" showcase the band's more bombastic, guitar-driven rock sound. While "This is a Love Song," "The Moment To Start," and "What Would You Say?" show Single's evolution into a luscious, orchestral pop vibe. Great songs with emotionally towering vocals and heart to spare. Check out singlesound.com for new music, live dates, and all the latest juice.

UPDATE!
"Welcome Nada" is now available on all the major digital download stores: iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody (Listen.com), Audiolunchbox, Musicmatch, and Musicnow. Damn the major labels if this band doesn't get a deal!

Way too many bands toss in the half-baked leftovers after the first few tracks. Not Single. Their band name should have an S on the end. From my first few listenings I count at least five bona fide singles that could crush most of the dregs on commercial radio. Welcome Nada is a beautifully produced CD that alternates between scorching emotional depth "Come Down Lovely" and joyful rock 'n' roll resonance "This Is A Love Song". Like everyone else, I love having my favorite little-know groups, but damn the major labels if they don't have the vision to give Single a serious deal! They deserve one more than any other indie band I've heard in a long while. Lord knows we could use a few great songs on the radio.

I am a fan of a side project of the bassist and on that note came across his website for Single. I ordered the CD and I love it. I highly recommend the CD to anyone who loves a good pop song.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, why hasn't this band been signed to a major label yet? The CD is absolutely amazing. The melody, the lyrics, -- it's so honest and my if it's catchy! I'd definitely recommend getting it. It's my official ... I'm driving in my car to LA - CD.
