Sintra are a six-piece alt. AOR band based in southwest London, England. Formed one evening during the Christmas holidays of 2001, they are in the process or writing and recording their debut album.

The band had previously been friends for some time and had all worked on various projects across the contemporary musical spectrum and on both sides of the Atlantic. They have written, played live and sessioned with many well-known names on many hits. These include such acts as Republica, Simply Red, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Crush, etc., where they have achieved considerable international experience and success.

The band first decided to get together after much debate during and evening out together in a local "pub" in southwest London. During the proceedings, a community of styles and tastes was soon established. As the evening passed on, the outcome became inevitable. "We had all been writing or playing quite successfully for other people for a while. There didn't seem to be very little music out there that we, or any of our friends actually liked, and even less that we really loved. We decided to change that. We got together and did it ourselves."

This has resulted in a classic body of work without any regard for the 'pop marketplace', yet it manages to retain a gargantuan commerciality due to the standard of songwriting and musicianship. Literary in style, the approach is simple and straightforward, the roots in melody and emotion. Underpinning these traditional elements is a contemporary musical feel that make the songs all the more engaging and appealing.

Sintra will be making their live debut sometime during the summer of 2003. The live shows promise to be passionate and spectacular. An equally powerful acoustic set is also currently being prepared.
