This is such a wonderful record!

Sirhan Duran is a new project made up by members of existing Seattle bands Voyager One (Loveless) and Kinski (Sub Pop), both of which have been getting a lot of attention this year, playing SXSW and touring extensively, as well as one of the members of the now-defunct Sky Cries Mary (Warner Bros).

The album is essentially instrumental, combining an atmospheric, hook-laden intensity with a fluid, driving structure, loops, beats and lots of space. The songs have exceptional depth, but are also immediately engaging. They sound familiar upon hearing the record for the first time, though not derivative of anything that's come before.

The sound is warm and organic but really clear-it's a great sounding record that works as ambient sounds or deep inside your head.
