Album Notes

As an artist and educator, Dr. Folami Prescott-Adams is devoted to strengthening families by developing programs that emphasize morals, multi-cultural awareness, and media literacy. As Creative Director and Co-Founder of Atlanta-based company HomeMade Jamz (HMJ), Prescott-Adams oversees content development of the company's products. She also is the lead character and soulful songstress Sista Folami featured in the company's media productions. Prior to HMJ, Dr. Prescott-Adams excelled in the educational consulting field, creating programs for The Annenberg Challenge for School Reform, 100 Black Men of Atlanta, and the Morehouse School of Medicine. These three educational projects she managed had operating budgets totaling over 8 million dollars. To further empower youth organizations, Prescott-Adams established The H.O.M.E. (Helping Our Minds Expand) Training Institute in 1991 to design and evaluate community programs. The institute is now a division of HMJ. Currently clients include Creating Pride, Inc., EMSTAR Research, Cool Girls, Inc. and Action Research Associates. She has also collaborated with renowned author and educator, Jawanza Kunjufu, in producing SETCLAE (Self-Esteem through Culture Leads to Academic Excellence), an Afrocentric curriculum. As a featured author in Cable in the Classroom, an organization supporting the cable industry's education foundation, Prescott-Adams has written about parents actively monitoring their children's television diet. She has also facilitated countless seminars on topics ranging from classroom management to media literacy. As a leader in the arts, she currently directs ARCH Productions (Artists Raising the Consciousness of Humanity), a nationally-recognized teen theater group and program of Communities In Schools of Atlanta. She has also spearheaded an international student journalism project that aired on CNN, performed in numerous independent films, and produced instructional videos about culturally-responsive pedagogy. In her performances, Folami brings along her four friends inside of her. Fulody, Florence, Fomeeko and Ms. Farris represent perspectives quite different from Folami's and each have fans of their own! Dr. Prescott-Adams received her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia and her doctorate in Community Psychology from Georgia State University. She currently lives in Atlanta, GA and is a proud wife and mother of four talented children. Her blended family was featured in Essence in the December 2002 issue.
