HIGHEST REGION RECORDS PRESENTS: the debut album This album draws on a range of 'old skool reggae' musical styles through the 70's 80's and 90's. It has been produced by SHAKESPEARE, veteran Jamaican vocalist musician and producer with some earlier arrangements by VOCAL CONNEXION, London The lyrics portray ina 'live-session' style, a personal view of Jewish Orthodox life in the 21st Century. It's essence is poetical social commentary. This Debut CD is a progression from the award winning project SISTA WARRIOR completed for the JEWISH MUSIC INSTITUTE FROM ASHES TOWARDS TESHUVA (spiritual return) Which can be viewed at the British Library. This CD is not supposed to be just easy listening for your musical pleasure! It attempts to convey a glimpse into the life and times of 'Der Yid' - 'The Jew', in the fortunate position of living as part of what is universally and historically known as the 'K'lal Yisroel', the 'Community of Israel', in it's deeper sense. The album records events that are real and illustrates that K'lal Yisroel is NOT just a concept... I hope that this anthology of songs can share with the listener, to some extent, the beauty of what it is like to live in Jewish Ghetto Land... in 5766, (C21st) two thousand years after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.. MACHON OR ISRAEL-AFRICA (TRACK 2). This song was specially written and recorded in an attempt to raise awareness of 'INSTITUTE OF LIGHT ISRAEL-AFRICA' and the work it is achieving. There are many large communities of Jews, scattered all over AFRICA, most of whom do not have access to Jewish resourses. Plays keyboard, drums and bass and is a trained vocalist. Composing her own songs and currently updating her skills in music technology and in the professional production arena, Sista Warrior’s love of reggae goes back a long way. Time in her youth listening to reggae music in and around, Harlesden, London NW10, the home of UK reggae music where she grew up, ensured that it remains the main musical influence in her life. Involved in the community at many different levels Sista co-edited a Poetry Anthology for the Association of Children of Jewish Refugees, has engineered women only concerts in London and is currently co-writing a play with two other women from multicultural London.
