notes
Praise for sistermachinegun: 6.6 machine:
"...inventive fuckers that they are, Chicago's most prolific computer chip cowboys have managed to re-shape their original batch of dance-floor bullets into organic-industrial sex-rock songs that bring to mind the smoky sounds of Thirwell in an arched-eyebrow mood, infusing acid-drenched funk-metal guitars with urban jungle percussion." - Sleazegrinder
"This is the second follow-up EP to the 6.0 album from 2001, and it takes a bit more of a divergent and noisy direction. While there is plenty of reference to Sister Machine Gun's established style, 6.6 Machine makes for the most offbeat release Chris Randall and company have given us to date. Chris and guitarist Miguel Turanzas handle all the music here, with the always welcome addition of Charles Levi on one track. Voices/Machine is a creepy bit of trancey electronica that crashes straight into the thick slab of noisy bluesy rock of Call it Mine. Gas Chamber is another abrupt shift, a slamming hard rock cut that is followed by the minimalist funk of Bullet to Spare. The best is kept for last, as the upbeat In Their Veins features a great solo spot and Enemy Mine mixes classic Sister Machine Gun bounce with some very experimental and industrial segues." - Outburn Magazine
"Chris Randall comes back for one last pass at 6.0, his sixth (natch) Sister Machine Gun release, with the 6.6 Machine EP, delivering another facet of the material laid out in the dot zero release. That was theme; this is variations, and these songs are influenced by the metallic clatter of steam-driven machinery. In a manner which is reminiscent of the Warzone days and The Torture Technique, SMG takes its rhythm from the percussive clatter of metal-on-metal... Sister Machine Gun's 6.6 Machine drives the engines of flesh and blood as easily as it makes time with the piston-pumping mechanics of the 21st century. This is the sound of a NOS Superpowershot hitting your brain." - Ear Pollution

On sistermachinegun: 6.6 machine, the third and final installment in the 6.0 series, SMG explores the roots of industrial music while maintaining the slow-burn rock and electronic elements of their signature sound. Most bands go to Guitar Center for their gear, but for this EP, SMG went shopping in the back alleys and basements of Chicago, with an occasional side trip to Home Depot. If you like the true industrial sound, then this six-song EP is the one for you!
