"It's been over a decade since Sins of the Flesh, the first Sister Machine Gun record, and when you look back at the SMG discography, you can see those elements which indelibly stamp a record as being a Sister Machine Gun release. The group has gone from being a full-on band to just Randall to being Randall and Miguel Turanzas, and what remains constant is the angry and disaffected crooner and the insistent funk of the melodies and rhythms. Each record applies these constants to a different shell, a different temperament and outer instrumentational casement. Influence throws itself deep into the electro-mix of the 1980s and pulls off its retro-vision with a broad streak of 21st century sensibility.
