Album Notes

Album Review:

These four women have captured a nice simple rock formula and thrown in some experimentalism, a dash of intelligence, a smidge of social consciousness, a dollop of really loud guitars, and a healthy dose of confidence to make music that is both fresh and fertile.

This is a good disc, one that harbors not only a lot of great ideas and a sense of adventure and inventiveness, but gives the world a look at the potential these women still possess.

I predict that the Sisters of Sharon will continue to rock hard and gain not only more notoriety in Hong Kong, but they will continue to spread their music to the rest of the world as well.

Sharon notes: I wanted to design this album but they didn't like the 'Hello Kitty' theme that I had..... This time they let me come to the recording studio (I had to promise NOT to sing into the microphone...) Everyone felt relaxed working with Raymond again. The name for the CD came from a shortlist of 5 titles (I wanted to call it Sharon on Top - but my Sisters weren't having it!) and then eventually everyone got drunk and pulled the name out of a gigantic frog who IS a Prince.... or maybe that was another night?!?!

Voted 'Best Local Band of Hong Kong' by the readers of HK magazine. This colourful band produce original lively visual entertainment, and must be seen!

They have played alongside bands such as Tai Chi, Zen, Ratcat, Virus and Fugazi. Even the rich and famous cannot stay away! Celebrities such as Bob Geldof, Adrian Sherwood, Anthony Wong, Elvin Wong Chi Chung (+ more: there's too many to mention!) have been spotted in the audience at Sisters of Sharon's concerts.

REVIEWS

80% classic rock, 10% semi-punk
author: Robert Lee
The tunes on this CD sounds more like Canto-pop version of classic rock than punk. Their Cantonese is not tone and pitch perfect, which makes it all the more interesting and enjoyable.

Perfect pop-punk.

This is one of those great CDs to listen to all the way through, as often as possible. Try this on car trips, while waiting for an important phone call, or any other occasion you need something great to listen to for awhile. No favorite songs either, it's all good.
