"Sound Color Words Movement" is the long awaited debut release of producer DJ VanCronkhite under his Sjel moniker. Combining elements of dub-step, ambient and ethereal vocals, Sjel falls into what could be described as "World Fusion". Signed to the FireCreek Music imprint in 2009, "Sound Color Words Movement" is expecting it's worldwide release in early 2010. The concept of the record was not only about moving into new realms musically, but a personal journey to find connection with God through his sound. The product takes the listener on a trip of truely global proportions. From the massive drums of "As In Heaven" through gentle interludes to the deep emotions of "The Darkest Night", the record aims to tell a story. "Sound Color Words Movement" stays true to it's ethereal sonic roots while exploring new realms of mystic electronica taking the listener on a spiritual and supernatural journey.
Enjoy The Ride.

With equal parts Massive Attack and Enigma, this mostly instrumental album works really well as a sonic landscape, with electronic motifs entering and exiting the scenery, or sometimes a loop repeating, then slightly altering, or appearing to be altered by the change in rhythms or aural textures surrounding it. The album notes describe this as “a personal journey to find connection with God through his sound”, which explains the occasional spiritual vocal, but also adds deeper meaning to the mélange of sounds and influences in the songs. The music is mellow, but shouldn’t be limited to background status; it sounds great with headphones too.
