Album Notes

Spinning Jennies was one of San Francisco’s most revered and long-lived power pop bands. Their 11-year career (spanning from 1993 – 2004) yielded five full-length albums, appearances on numerous compilations, and countless live shows and tours throughout the western U.S. As a no-nonsense power trio, the Jennies’ sound embodied the cornerstones of classic power pop: big chiming guitars, driving rhythms, soaring vocal harmonies…and the ever-important melodic hook. Through the years they have received comparisons to bands like The Posies, Redd Kross, Cheap Trick, Sloan, Matthew Sweet, Husker Du and 70’s power pop icons the Shoes.

Released independently on the band’s own label (Cool Buzz Records) "Full Volume" compiles the best of the Jennies’ 11-year canon of soaring power pop. The stand-out tracks from their five-album catalog are included here along with two new tracks (recorded in 2004 specifically for this compilation) and two previously unreleased tracks.

Turn It Up! 5 stars!

Coolness! A best-of collection from The Spinning Jennies! I was excited to get my hands on this cd and give it a spin. 2 new tracks, 2 previously unreleased tracks plus 14 from their previous 5 cds. Stand-out tracks include Melody Comes from Starstruck and Three Minus One from Stratosphere. Both excellent records in their own right. A great reference point for the Spinning Jennies is...The Posies. Vocalist/Guitarist Jeff Shelton delivers some savvy hooks that would fit nicely on Frosting on the Beater. That seals the deal for me! Cheers to the Jennies....! Too bad their day is done.
