Album Notes

SkUnK established in 1994, has been consistently touring the Boston and New England area.

With a love of Dub, Roots and Punk, SkUnK has created a unique sound that encorporates all these styles.

Influenced by late great Reggae stars Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, SkUnK combines this feel with a modern appeal ala Sublime and 311.

Outstanding meleodies and tone to this CD.

"A hidden treasure in the sea of bad bands" Tom Glynn, Boston Phoenix Magazine.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by CD Baby!

A good band, a good album...

A good fusion cd. It's primarily reggae/ska but the vocals have a kurt cobain-esk grunge sound... an interesting combination...For something different have a listen.

Skunk jumps successfully between genres and styles
author: Jen Kirkman (freelance Writer)
Skunk is a band that accomplishes something really unique on Sell Me Your GoldMine. Successfully jumping between not only musical styles but different genres within each style. There is a clear underlying reggae influence here but not just your basic Bob Marley, the beat and rhythm guitar tuning carries a hint of English early 80’s ska. If you’re too young to remember that, don’t worry, there’s something for you in the catchy guitar hooks/riffs and heavy drumming that gives Sublime and even classic rock standards a run for their money. The harmonizing is subtle as it should be but the nice balance between songs on this album is the lead singer’s ability to “sing like a rock star” and then actually sing and carry a tune (a la Radiohead). This band has the same sensibilities of the new Cure, romantic lyrics at times, laced with introspection and cynicism and the occasional (you have to listen for it) humor, like in “Real Doll”. “Let it Go” and “Best” are highlights and the type of songs you’ll listen to on ‘repeat’
