ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
SKY BIO
From the stunning skyline of Chicago emerges, The Sky Pilots. This collaboration brings a sophisticated urban alternative sound to the masses of Hip Hop lovers around the world. For those who have nostalgia for the old school, and a yearning for the future, The Sky Pilots' sound captures both styles with no shortage of flair or exclusive Sky Pilot lingo thrown into the mix.
The Sky Pilots members, Tribaluv (Brian Bacon) and Rio G (Mario Gipson), hail from the north and south sides of “The Chi” respectively. This cross town connection gives rise to an eclectic sound and swagger that is then, now and tomorrow. The Sky Pilots take you on flights of fancy with clever lyrical deliveries reminiscent of the first time you heard A Tribe Called Quest or Slum Village. Refusing to be locked in by genre, the duo lets words loose over tracks that fuse elements of Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul with the unique sounds of homegrown Chicago Blues and House music . Never to be underestimated, The Sky Pilots are on a crusade for the ears of everyone; from classic backpackers, the sophisticated women who like their Hip Hop sexy, to the gentlemen who are “suited and booted” and ready for the night. Limits do not exist here. The Sky Pilots are taking Hip Hop to an elevated plane.
While the The Sky Pilots familial ties created a spark that led them to pen their very first rhymes at the tender ages of 11 and 13, they initially took different paths in their pursuit of the craft of emceeing. Tribaluv’s journey was trekked out in the underground realms of Chicago’s north side Hip Hop scene, allowing him to perform in venues such as The Elbow Room and Hotland Café. Rio G opted for a different course, heading west to Seattle where the Music Industry Management major rocked shows at various venues; including the renowned club, Rckcndy. Now, ready to take their place in the industry, the two have combined their diverse experiences and styles to form a group focused on the growing re-emergence of music that attracts seduces the masses, not just hardcore Hip Hop lovers.
Their debut CD, “The Mile High Club”, will take you on a journey through the lives of the emcees. The fiery combustion of undeniable charisma and baritone bravado provide the perfect vehicle for the real life scenarios delivered on every track.. The 16 track experience contains instant classics like “Electromagnetic”, which pays homage to the back and forth banter of artists like Slick Rick and Dana Dane or Run DMC. “The Whole Night”, is a ferocious track merged with a delivery that epitomizes the The Sky Pilots laid back party flow. The CD’s sensuality is contagious with the ultra sexy “Mackin” and radio friendly “Run Toward The Sky”, supplying an instant soundtrack for the night that will extend well into the after party.
To keep the momentum of their debut offering true to The Sky Pilots form and close to their roots, the crew joined forces with two of Chicago’s up and coming production phenoms, CDFX and Rufus Xavier. The impressive playlist is perfected by the commandeering of production duties by group member Rio G on six of the tracks on this release.
“The Mile High Club” introduces The Sky Pilots to the world as a powerhouse to be reckoned with; especially in Chicago’s current musical explosion. The full length opus shows a dedication to the finesse, vivid imagery and unpredictability of this art form that reminds people why they still love the Hip Hop’s rich music and culture.
For those who are ready, “The Mile High Club” will urge you to re-define your understanding of the genre, re-discover what this music means to you , and help the listener re-connect with Hip Hop that is ready to spread its wings and soar to new heights…
Ladies and gentlemen, you are now ready for take off. Please fasten your seat belts and prepare for flight…you are now ready to join “The Mile High Club.”
