Slam's poems allow us to enter the mind of a man who
is sensual and sexual, humorous and thought provoking,
creative and talented. The CD blends jazz and hip hop
influenced beats. Some tracks offer spoken word poetry similar to Def Poetry Jam, other tracks, like one of my personal favorites "Mojo" is a full fledged song with Slam rapping overbeats you might hear on any urban radio station. And other tracks, like my very favorite titles simply "Sex", Slam paints a picture of his most intimate
sexual desires and fantasies so vividly that one
friend told me he would "make a baby to it". And in a
both erotic and humorous poem called "Pillow Talk",
Slam first explains to us how a love making session
with him might take place but then out of nowhere
allows the power role to be shifted to the woman in a
clever interlude.

Slam deals with topics of love, sex, the beauty of the
black woman and on a more serious note, black on black
crime and the incarceration of black men in America.

His CD proves that behind the brown doe-like eyes,
soft spoken voice, and amazing body lays a man with a
heart, with soul, with imagination , with a sense of
humor and with intelligence. I recommend that everyone
pick up the CD and take a listen - you won't regret
it.
