From the West Virginia foothills to the California mountain pines, SlapShoeFly formed in November of 2004 in Nashville, Tennessee. Two songwriters Johnny Callahan and Jason Conley, decided to start a band
that would defy the structure and boring repetition of today’s radio and record label puppets. Later joined by songwriter, Tristan Baam, they uphold and relinquish, show after show and song after song, an undying love for music and direction. With combining showmanship, using wood, steel, air, and the ever illusive muse, they wad their worlds up into paper balls time and time again. This is truly a band based on feeling and passion. SlapShoeFly channels the high lonesome Appalachian sound and the earliest blues and folk roots they found through modern performers. They believe that there is more to music than a flashy show or an erotic sound. There is a proof that we are all individually one and the same. You can find that proof, show after show, in the words and passion of the SlapShoeFly as well as the eyes and ears of the people who watch and listen.
