Album Notes

Gary Stoddard hails from Sandy Utah, and is the lead vocalist for the group, as well as playing keyboards, guitar, bass, and percussion. He has previously performed with the world music group Desert Wind, and the rock band Sage. Gary is a self-taught musician whose major influences were Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Loggins & Messina, and the Doobie Brothers.
Gary grew up in a musical family where his parents taught all seven brothers and sisters to sing in 4 part harmony from their infancy. The "Singing Stoddards" performed acapella for parties and musical productions, and still perform together for charity events.
Gary studied under a performing arts scholarship at the University of Utah in the musical theater department, and has acted and sung in several large stage productions. He is also an accomplished painter and sculptor. Foremost in his life however is his family of five children and wife Terri.

Kevin Flynn is the sax man for the group as well as playing flute, harmonica, percussion, and backup vocals. He was born in Oklahoma but has lived in eight different states across America, becoming a gypsy of sorts, and absorbing the musical influences of the Deep South, the Northeast, the West Coast, and the Rocky Mountain regions. He received formal musical training from the University of Utah and through private lessons, and has been a member of numerous bands including Sage, Epic Forrest, and the Rockamatics. He was greatly influenced by the Celtic music he encountered while serving as a missionary for his church in Ireland for two years, but also cites blues artist Buddy Guy and jazz saxophonist Brandon Fields as major musical influences.
When he is not making music, Kevin loves to spend time with his wife Becky and their five children. He draws inspiration from the outdoors and is an avid hiker and river rat, who loves to explore the beautiful red slickrock canyons of Southern Utah.

Standing out from the crowd, a positive and upbeat way to spend an hour.
author: Brandt Goble
Standing out from the crowd, is a cd with a positive and upbeat message mixed with soothing instramentals and a little blues thrown in for good measure. New World helps open our eyes to this notable second effort by the Slickrock Gypsies, a song guaranteed to make you feel good. Marry me again, Sunshine after the rain and Cleopatra and Antony, all great songs with sentiment and feeling, help to set you up for a bluesy and well done My Babys gone. Kevin Flynnn out does himself. Following a track latter, is When the mornig comes which, in my opinion, is the best song on the cd. Amy Faust and Gary Stoddard sing a wonderful duet about the strength of love. With instrumentals, blues, new age pop and rock, the Slickrock Gypsies have created a positive and upbeat way to spend an hour. If you are looking for a cd that never fails to put you in a better mood, you've found it.
