the founders of atlanta’s redneck underground return to the airwaves with their third album of classic country music. “the dark side of the moonpie” was recorded at rob gal’s snack n’ shack, and once again the mighty convicts deliver a delightful mixture of pure honky tonk two-steppers, traditional acoustic ballads, and a couple of rockers thrown in for good measure.

lead vocalist slim chance, bassist phil anderson, and drummer bryan brownlow are joined by a virtual “who’s who” of the atlanta music scene. guests include guitarist and harmony singer jon byrd, doug morton (acoustic guitar) and angie goodale (drums) of ion avenue, bill fleming on pedal steel, terri onstad on harmony vocals and cello, rob gal on lead guitar, slim’s 73 year old dad jimmy kelly on harmony vocals, and brother rick kelly on dobro.
