"Some people have to work hard to pursue their destiny, Leigh Sloggett's aptly titled independent release, 'Sliding To Your Destiny ', reminds us that others are lucky enough to just slide to theirs. This collection of mainly lap steel focussed arrangements presents a selection of accomplished original songs with an easy edge that JJ Cale might be proud of. Leigh's husk-tinged vocals slip apparently effortlessly in with the instrumental groove and if, like me, you like your notes to bend, you'll want to cruise those bends with Leigh once you get a taste."

The release of Leigh’s debut album ‘Sliding To Your Destiny’ at the age of forty five is a milestone in the life of this singer /songwriter. He took up guitar at the age of twelve and was immediately introduced to blues music, which has been an influence on him to this day.
A break from music in his twenties to travel the world, allowed him to return to it in his thirties with inspired clarity and a wealth of experience and observations to pour into his songs.
His love of blues and acoustic music combined with his own insightful and contemplative lyrical style has jelled to create music, which is fresh and original but not detached from its roots. His warm emotive vocals are backed by masterful fingerpicking and tasteful soloing on six string acoustic guitar, acoustic lap-slide guitar and electric steel guitar.
His live performances leave audiences moved by their emotional intensity and charmed by the beauty of his playing.

Blues with a conscience

Great music especially if you like blues with a difference. Songs really mean something whether it be a message about the world or a personal experience. Oh, and the guitar playing is first class. Most excellent!

An alluring, thoughtful set of mellow blues songs
author: Peter Newall
Easy listening can often mean bland, but not so for this CD. While easy to listen to, this is one that also grabs you. With intricate picking, moving blues and powerful lyrics it's a great listen. Some pretty tunes and some rocking ones - all well worth an audience. A great buy.
