Album Notes

WHOA! Here's an eclectic CD of original instrumental rock, funk, blues, surf, electric and finger-style acoustic guitar and bass. Hard driving ferocity, tender & restrained, frenetic and climactic, Jim Sloves' compositions and playing cover a multitude of textures yet capture his own inimitable style and humor. Humor? Listen to the solo near the end of "Les Blues Cliché Be Damned". If Hendrix, Van Halen, Rolling Stones, Robben Ford, Flea, Marcus Miller, Steve Howe, Frank Zappa, Leo Kottke, Mark Knopfler, and Andy Summers each donated fingers and put their heads together, it might sound like "SWIRL". ...Then again, it might not. Check out the funk of "Sweet Spot", "Funkin' Green", or "Boardin & Bladin'"; classic rock of "Stewart Stones Everbody", "Jimi Bramhall's Heart"; moody "Swamp Lodge"; toxic jam of "My Id", solo acoustic "Cripple Creek"; hard rocking "Moroso Turn 1", and more. Coupled with Terry Bachow's world-class drumming on all but three tracks, Jim Sloves' "SWIRL" is a journey into a contemporary guitar and bass free-for-all. You can hear 10 year old Ben Sloves pound the skins on "Stole My Heart" and 7 year old Dean Sloves get funky on the drums on "Boardin'& Bladin'". Experience the spontaneity and creative energy. . . now! This CD is almost 1 hour long and is reproduced with single-speed (audiophile) direct glass mastering for the best sound quality for your listening pleasure.

Unlike most instrumental rock CDs this has diversity and keeps moving from one song to another. Absolutely no areas of boredom or redundancy. Great song craftsmanship, riffs, hooks, chops. A real pleasure to listen to. Very refreshing and diverse. Not just another shredder!
