Album Notes

joseph berardi: drumset/percussion
dan clucas: cornet
scot ray: dobro
steuart liebig: bass/tunes

formed by steuart liebig as an exploration of american roots music fused with avant garde jazz practice. Related to his band, the mentones (http://stigsite.com/mentones1front.html), this group combines the influences of 1920–30s jazz, blues and country.

rocking tunes, concise solos and hard-edged grooves . . . with a little bit of california "outsider music" aesthetic thrown in for good measure.

REVIEWS

Holy Mutant Americana Batman!
author: Phil McKenna
Steuart Liebig is one VERY original musician/composer and riungleader, and this debut effort from his Tee-Tot Quartet just reinforces that idea all the more. It gallops, lurches, sneaks up, bats you one and rides off into the sunset with its twisted recombining of old-timey blues, jazz, Americana and roots music by way of Ornette Coleman or the Bob Graettenger/Stan Kenton evil axis with a bit of Charles Mingus thrown in. Adventurous sonorities from this unusual instrumentation (bass, cornet, drums and dobro) meet galloping and unusual rhythms, madly inspired improvisations and an undeniable sense of humor. I can't recommend this enough!
