Album Notes

Formed in Los Angeles by two Englishmen, lead singer Robin Goodchild says of his band, “We’re an English/American crossbreed… a hybrid if you will. We’re good for the environment”.
Goodchild, along with fellow countryman Edward Shiers (drums) made the move to the States in 2002 where they found like-minded musician John Ransom (bass) “The chemistry between the three of us is unlike anything we’ve experienced before, it’s what we’d been searching for.” recalls Shiers.
The new band disappeared into a broken down rehearsal space to emerge several months later with a sound of their own and a self-titled EP.

The sound? Alternatively accessible, melodic and emotional, ethereal yet aggressive. Goodchild explains; “Our influences on both sides of the Atlantic set us apart from many of our British and American counterparts”.

With regular air-play on major taste-maker radio stations, the speed at which the band has garnered interest has surprised even them. According to Ransom, their ‘grassroots’ approach to promoting the band has been very successful – “We’re developing an organic following of dedicated music fans, who love what we’re doing, and are encouraging and supporting us as we do it.”

Refreshing, brilliant sound!!!
author: James E Stromberg
The title says it. Looking for something refreshing? A break from the same-o same-o, The Small Hours has a fresh, upbeat sound that's managed to make me late for work several times because I simply can't get up and get away from the music! The Small Hours is one of my personal top five bands that I recommend to my friends and acquaintances. A sure pleaser. Great band to be a fan of, too; very friendly and accessible to fans. Looking forward to the next release. My recommended "top track" for this CD is Owner of My Honour.

This is a great first release from The Small Hours. The songs are catchy, and the lyrics are all fine and dandy. Great stuff right here. Pick it up if you have the 8 bucks to spend. It's definatly worth the money.
