Biography:
SMASH THE BRAIN from Osaka, Japan, was originally formed as a two-piece by Shimada (g/vo) and Yamaguchi (ds/vo) in 1996. Under this unique formation, they released two 7”EP’s as well as participated in a few compilations released by foreign labels. In 2000, they released the debut album “Keep Our Way!!”, following which they added another guitar player in order to pursue further musical developments. In 2002, they finally added a bass player and the new album was released in 2003, entitled “Forever Lasting Twilight”. In comparison to the debut, which was a very hardcore album, this new one incorporates a lot of melodies and galloping speed, allowing them to acquire a lot of new fans. In 2004, one of the founders, Yamaguchi left the band, yet the remaining members decided to continue, being joined by renowned singer Minamikatsu and ex-Grim Force technical hitter Kamomiya. Following the release of a demo CDR, they signed with SPIRITUAL BEAST and the new album “Construction of Despair” is now presented, with a lot more depth and emotions.
Selling Points:
* Third album from a melodic death metal/metalcore band.
* Produced by Fuyuhiko Inui, known for Solitude, Maverick and Day After Tomorrow (very popular Japanese group)
* “My Cry Echoes” has been featured in the sampler of Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles (BW&BK) of Canada (Issue #101)
* Thrashy guitar riffs and very melodic twin-leads, reminiscent of Scandinavian/American melodic death metal/metalcore bands.
* The singer can control and express various emotions with his growl and shouts – reminiscent of Johan Liiva (ex-Arch Enemy)!
* Shared stages with Metalucifer, Solitude, Maverick, Youthquake etc.
