SMEAR-CAMPAIGN is a female-fronted dark rock band from the New York area. Audiences have described their music as "sultry metal" and "Portishead meets Tool".

SMEAR-CAMPAIGN completed their 4-track EP early in 2002 at Sonic Boom Studios in New Jersey. The songs were produced by Anthony Krizan (SPIN DOCTORS, songwriter for various artists including Lenny Kravitz). Anthony also contributed musically to the CD playing haunting keys on the first single "Cold", a dark and ambient piece.

SMEAR-CAMPAIGN is comprised of five musicians: Maria Aggabao (vocals), Craig Franklin (bass), Danny Murphy (guitar), Steve Dorlen (drums), and Mike Ferguson (synth, electronic sounds). The band is inspired by a vast collection of artists such as Portishead, Jane's Addiction, Radiohead, and Tool.
