While you may not have heard of him yet, get used to the name. Smiley Smudge is a talented upcoming emcee who takes his raw emotions and brings them to life through the art of song. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri he has been instrumental in a movement bringing a non-traditional, more established sound to the area. Along with other established members of the Zuri Records roster he brings his own style of hip hop and melody to the table.
In 2005 Smiley Smudge released his debut album "A Thousand Faces" featuring the city-wide anthem "Where U From". This track placed Smudge as a legit break through artist amongst a city full of competition. Through self-promotion Smudge has moved several hundred units as well store-wide placement throughout the Kansas City area not to mention into the cities of Lawrence and Warrensburg. Smudge has also made his presence known in radio being recognized by established radio stations that include 103 Jamz in Kansas City, and Q106.1 in Columbia. And in 2005 Smiley Smudge introduced his music to online audiences logging in over six thousand plays and downloads.
Currently Smiley is also involved in several projects with Zuri Records that include guest appearances and production work on Illete's upcoming album, and verses on the Zuri Records Mixtape: Jackin 4 Beats. If you enjoy top notch production and true to life lyrics then look no further than Smiley Smudge, The Man of "A Thousand Faces".
"Since I am influenced by all types of music, music comes natural to me."

A Head Noddin' Good Time In The Midwest
author: Middle A Nowhere Publishing
This album is playful and serious at the same time. Smiley Smudge keeps a light hearted stance on tracks throughout the album especially with the skits and outro, but you can tell as soon as track 2 (Where You From) comes in, Smudge is not messing around. The rest of the Zuri Records artists hold it down on their respective tracks throughout. This album is a good mix of fun wordplay and serious topics and a good listen throughout. Whether you are looking for party tunes, some serious introspection, or just something to vibe out to, Smiley Smudge's "A Thousand Faces" will give you What You Need.
