Album Notes

As their name suggests, Smirk couldn't be serious if they tried. Their 1999 release, Ridgefield Slippers, ranges in style from hardcore punk to earnest, guitar driven pop. But humor is the glue that binds their songs together. Hailing from the comedy capital of the world, Ridgefield, Washington, Don Griswold, Deiv Standal, and Bert Pegg are the irrepressible smartasses behind such underground classics as "Hippie Fight," "Job Song," and "Everything's Cool." If you're looking for self-aggrandizing pomposity, you won't find it here. But if you like smart, funny songs, intense performances, and crisp musicianship, then Smirk just may be the ticket.
