Album Notes

White Man's Blues. A tribute to the late great blues guitar player Freddie King.

I was sitting on the banks of the Colorado River in Austin with Freddie in the summer of 1970. Freddie had just played a concert there and we were drinking scotch and discussing music in general.

I told him I was going to start playing more country music and not as much blues. Freddie just looked at me and said "don't worry about it country music is just White Man's Blues".

Freddie died New Years 1976 after a new years gig. But that statement has influenced what I (Smokey) do with music as much as anything I have ever heard or seen since.

This Cd is filled with some super guitar from the likes of Scott Fojt, Big John Mills, Billy High, and Leon Vines. And yes, I play the harmonica. All original music.

You'll like it.
Smokey
