REVIEWS

The most reviewed artist in this paper is Smokin' Joe.
author: Dave Miller, North Of The Border (music monthlyHouston
Probably the most reviewed artist (by me)in this paper is Smokin' Joe Denson. This new album brings us back to the roots. Coming out of the chute is Blues From my Baby,a ZZ Top clone from their early days that will make the hair on the back of your neck crawl, and morphing into Messing On Me,the astounding guitar work alone makes this one a winner. The old cliche we're not getting older we're getting better fits like a glove with Joe's musical output. While his earlier recordings (which we featured on our old website)were all quality products, this one ranks way up there. A hybrid of Jimi Hendrix,Billy Gibbons,Johnny Winters and Robin Trower, his spine -tingling licks foster the 60's and 70's arena guitar storms that thrilled audiences for hours as they grooved their way to rock history. With classic reverb and superb vocals, you're in another world as you relive a past reminded of in Days Gone By and More Time, two anthems to guitar rock. Instrumentals like Fly Away, Wing Commander and G-Man are a delight for the jam fans who drift away with dreamy melodies crafted by a Master Axeman. As I've said before, if you are any kind of guitar fan and if any of the 60's and 70's guitar driven rock still holds a place in your heart, give this a listen. You won't be sorry!!!
