Periodically in this blog I will be mentioning noteworthy indie releases in all genres. I've enjoyed listening to Dan Smolla ever since discovering Swimming in Wind. His songwriting is unique, often blues-jazz-folk influenced with echoes of Van Morrison if you allow your mind to wander ... but only echoes, Dan Smolla's music is thoroughly original and thought provoking. Dan Smolla is a singer-songwriter living just outside Chicago, IL. His three self-released CD's have found considerable airplay on roots-oriented European radio stations and small, Independent stations in the U.S. The CD's have also received positive critical reviews (www.dansmolla.com).
