Album Notes

Influenced primarily by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and blues music, Dan Smolla is a singer-songwriter living about 20 miles west of Chicago. To paraphrase Paige James' reference to Woody Guthrie, one doesn't listen to Dan's music and refer to him primarily as a vocalist. Dan's strength is as a songwriter. His songs emphasize melody, lyrics, and emotion.

He has released four cds:

Hearts in Traffic (aka Mercy), Swimming in Wind, Under the Rainbow, and Sky of My Mind. In the four cds he has released thus far, Dan played all the instruments.

Dan's music has found airplay in college and small, independent music stations throughout the United States, as well as stations throughout Europe, especially The Netherlands.

His new CD is titled, There's a River (Evergreen).

Also, Dan is in the process of finishing a novel, Shapes of Luck.
