24 year old Adam Smouse is an ardent, outspoken singer/songwriter from Portland, Oregon, and it is obvious that being raised in the beauty of the awe-inspiring, pacific northwest has had no small impact on him or his music. "If I could describe myself in one word, that word would be: impassioned." Formally trained on the accordion from the age of six, and having started singing for audiences at an early age, Adam picked up an acoustic guitar in high school, taught himself to play, and began writing his own music. Writing turned to performing, and Adam honed his live performance in the coffee shops, bars, clubs, and other intimate venues of the Portland Metropolitan area. Whether he's on stage with a band or sitting on a stool with acoustic guitar in arm, his expressive playing style lends itself well to his often-playful melodies and tangible, sensitive lyrics. Smouse is also no stranger to the recording studio. His first self-titled solo EP finished production in Portland in December of 2004, was released in May of 2005. Additionally, while in residency at the Contemporary Music Center, an invitation-only artist colony on Martha's Vineyard, Adam spent hours engineering and tracking a number of original works.
