Ben Stancil and Barclay Martin met in the fall of 1998 on a student exchange program in Liverpool, England where they collectively began their study of songwriting. Being no better place than Liverpool to begin a band, the two started making plans to make an album of original music upon returning to the States.
Martin, a native Kansan and Stancil, hailing from Michigan continued their musical partnership for three years, until enlisting the talents of Andy Weber and Carole Brown (guitar/mandolin and upright bass, respectively). The group gathered from across the country in preparation for intensive recording sessions in Kansas City. The quartet released its inaugural album, Potato Moon, in the fall of 2001.

down-home country...prairie songs
author: Joel D. Ruark
For a first-cut CD of amateur artists, this music and song-writing is second to none. Excellent blend of instrumentation and wonderful variety...Weber kills on the mandolin, and Stancil's dobro is sentimental and amazingly smooth. I love the teamwork on the lyricism as well, and the quality comes through. The final track will make you cry!

Nothing fancy. Doesn't need to be. Just good music!!

You guys (and gal) did a hell of a job on this CD. Unpretentious music that reverts back to the days when pure lyricism and musicianship was the foundation, but isn't at all antiquated. Knowing Barclay personally, this achievement couldn't happen to a nicer person. Makes a damn good cappucino, too. Nice work!

Wow, what a recording and story behind it
author: Louba
If this is a debut recording, I can't wait to see what this group comes up with next...There is something extra-ordinary about this group. It may be the informed, intelligent interplay from the musicians, the harmony vocals, or the magical, and unique symbiosis between the members which serves up some very polished, mature songwriting..which, amazingly, was done apart from each other. One of the best CDs I've heard this year.
