The Calling (1998)

Supernatural started to work on track and songs in 1991. Peter and Thomas had known each other from playing, recording and touring with different projects in Europe over the years (amongst others 'Thomas Anders/Modern Talking, Kristiana Levy, Countdown, Foreign Affairs, Cafe Noir) and decided to work together on their own music.

At the time, both were into creating sound scapes to visuals and ambient mood music. "The Calling" was mostly recorded in 'one take' sessions to capture the energy and spirit of the moment. Besides attempting to create more free structures and combining influences from different styles and tastes, the album caters to the film and advertising industry and to individuals who are into using music to emphasize the effect of the picture. "The Calling" quicly occupied ambient radio stations although the original intent was to create music to visuals without paying too much attention to commercial radio.

Due to their busy schedules, it took a while before "The Calling" was complete (released October 1998).

The songs and sounds of 'The Calling' have been described as ambient, laid back mood music with an edge that leads you to places in your mind, heart and soul.

REVIEWS

author: Dave Burrluck, Guitarist magazine, UK
This is great music to listen to while being creative, dreaming or spending a romantic evening but it's also edgy and different. I like the almost film-like atmosphere - there's a few songs here that should be played to directors - reminds me of some of the stuff on Lost in Translation.
