Album Notes

The Sneaks are a five-piece indie pop band from Boston that enjoy writing short bursts of energetic indie/power pop with some subtle quirks. Upon the demise of his previous band, Johnny Arguedas (ex-Anushka Pop)jumped on the internet to find a like-minded crew to help materialize the sounds in his head. Soon John Coughlin, Brit Jackson, Ken Rothman and Remy Trahant joined and after a few months of spit-polishing their material they played their first show in October of 2007. They take as inspiration Merseybeat and 60’s garage rock along with some 90’s-style indie rock to forge a sound that is catchy but not mind-numbingly sweet. Bands that have helped shape their music include the Kinks, Sloan, Squeeze, Built to Spill, Beulah and the New Pornographers.

In an Instant is the self-released debut EP from the Sneaks, and it showcases the variety in their sound, from the bouncy pop of “Part the Sea” and “Scene of the Crime” to more rock-oriented songs like “Price of Good Advice” and the noisy “Monuments.” The cd was recorded and mixed by Kevin Ennis at the Milkhouse, with mastering by Matt Azevedo at M-Works.
