Album Notes

Several years ago we formed a trio, Zumbido, with violinist Ruthie Dornfeld, specializing in Brazilian music. As the two of us began spending more time together, we found ourselves working up duo versions of both the Brazilian songs we had started with and Jazz standards. Soon the duo sound began to take on a life of its own.
We've selected a program of our current favorites in both styles for this recording, songs that chart the course of love and explore different sounds. We try to give each other chances to shine, and most of all, hope that the songs themselves shine.

lovely listening to Ginny and John...You Fascinate Me So made me remember listening to Blossom Dearie back in the 1980's so this was a pleasant and the lyrics are quite charming; the rest of the album was delightful and although it might be my imagination it was as if I could hear Ginny smiling as she sang. A very enjoyable listening experience.

This is an album that plays well in lots of settings and asks to be heard over and over again. In the car, in the background it's fun to hear, and wears well, but don't stop there! Put on the studio speakers or the great headphones, and listen with all your attention. You'll hear subtleties and nuance, texture and richness that will have you sighing, laughing, grinning, and maybe crying too, but all in such a humble way that it's clear great music is the goal, not showmanship. The mix is wonderful, and you'll feel like you are right there with Ginny and John, and if you've ever had the privilege of seeing them live, you know how great that can be.
