South London-based Sodared have been together for 4 years and have spent that time on the road, on-stage and in the studio in search of simplicity and power in their sound and message. Over the last few years, they have recorded 2 EP’s, ‘Where Are You Now’: 2005 and ‘Everyone Stood and Watched’: 2004 - the most recent of those providing the theme tune to the BT Digital Music Awards on Channel 4. They’ve played more stages than they can remember, from universities and festivals to performing to the bar staff in small sweaty clubs. Every gig is important to them though, and if they can touch someone new each time they play, they’re happy.
2007 sees the release of their 11-track, debut album, Josephine Avenue. This an eclectic but cohesive collection of guitar-driven indie songs, which reflect the shared writing responsibilities in Sodared. With influences from Bowie to The Cure to (apparently) Billy Idol, it echoes the past while standing proudly in the present day looking forward with energy and excitement.
“Each song standing on it’s own plateau of a widely stretched influence of music… This album is well constructed and gives us a perfected painted picture of a band that can convince anyone” Mark Thomas, The Blue Light District
