Sofia recorded and released her eponymous album in Los Angeles. Singer-songwriter and band performances packed Highland Grounds, the Joint, the west-side's Temple Bar and other timely L.A. stages. One under-stated open-mic in L.A. is the Unurban in Santa Monica - there is a there there. A need to flee the west-side hit, and then need to flee everything altogether hit harder leading Sofia to Pittsburgh to shelter her child from the storm; with another on the way, she is still writing/recording. Surprising new friends in Pittsburgh’s art safe-haven include Spuonk Opera (www.squokopera.com), and the Youssefs (http://hishamyoussef.com/, http://www.kamalyoussef.com/). And, other unknowns run deep-- check black moth super rainbow (http://www.blackmothsuperrainbow.com/).
New recordings involve Sofia's musician-family, Rick and Hiro, and will draw on the “land of misfit of toys-band” as usual as the next album finalizes. Her last song recorded in L.A. - "Flowers" - is available on www.sunseri.com.
Other homes for Sofia's music are: "Mama" introduces and "Fly Higher" is in the final musical montage in As Daylight Breaks, a poignant documentary about Canavan disease premiering at Lincoln Center. Besides Sofia, the soundtrack for As Daylight Breaks includes Yo La Tengo, Interpol, Brendan Benson, the Walkmen, Longwave, Pas/Cal, Lume, Jason Blum, Erika Simonian, and Ben Lee (www.asdaylightbreaks.com). Sofia's songs are also in Dog Me Potluck by Triple Sticks Productions (www.triplestickspro.com).
About the eponymous CD on CDBaby- the last few songs were recorded live in Grandma's Attic (Echo Park L.A. studio) - the takes took themselves. The first few tracks have strings that really brought out Insides Out and I Wait (special thanks to Christof Bull on accordion and Sean Halley on production).
Sofia released a limited demo CD in the early part of this decade that is sometimes available on Amazon's used/collectible tab. Before that, she performed with Red Fish Blue Fish at Lincoln Center performing the music Steve Reich.
More songs will be released in 2008.
All songs are also available on iTunes.

One word sums it up – FANTASTIC!
The style has a smooth retro-jazz/pop tone with a voice reminiscent of older Sheryl Crow and Fiona Apple.

It's not rock and roll, but I like it !

Retro/jazz/pop ! Thanks, Mike, I couldn't find the appropriate word to define that kind of music. However that may be, it sounds clear and clean. The right note at the right place, no special effects, just what's needed.
A pleasant voice on pleasant songs.
