Vancouver’s SOL 3 is set to release their long awaited, much anticipated 3rd CD, Whistling At The Northern Lights. Recorded at Fortissimo Sound with producer Doug Fury (Bif Naked/Scatterheart), Whistling At The Northern Lights is by far SOL 3’s most ambitious release to date. Featuring 12 songs that range from pop rock to prog rock, soulful blues to all out, full throttle heavy metal assault, Whistling At The Northern Lights takes the listener on a journey that scans the full Rock n’ Roll spectrum without ever once feeling inconsistent or out of place.

Album Notes

Like a phoenix from the ashes, of a not so distant guitar rock crescendo in the annals of Rock n‘ Roll history, SOL 3 has risen through the mist. Song writing duo Blair Bellerose (guitars) and Foley (vocals) have been collaborating since high school days long past in the cozy, suburban pocket of St Albert, Alberta. Cold nights and nothing to do spawned the beginning of what is now SOL 3. With much fanfare the two played the Edmonton circuit for a few years and lucked out with some very supportive interviews, TV appearances, and radio play locally. Vancouver was calling and the cold winters came to an end for SOL 3 in 2002. Bassists and drummers were many until the arrival of former Sarah McLachlan bassist Jeff Sawatzky in 2003, followed by Luis Carrillo (drums) in 2009. Newly Canadian and earning every fucking minute of it, Carrillo fuses the rhythm with Sawatzky’s thunderous bass lines bringing the punchy, gritty guitar rock to it's newest form... Whistling At The Northern Lights. The 3rd studio album by these weird bastards, is difficult to turn off. They lure you in with excellent hook-driven rock, building you up, only to flex their progressive muscles in unforgettable tunes like Cincinnati Bowtie Johnson and All My Enemies. Long story short, SOL 3 isn't going anywhere. After well over ten years of rocking, they just keep impressing and writing. The critical part of the process of any art is execution, which means that SOL 3 kills... A lot.
