REVIEWS

author: Murat Batmaz / Sea of Tranquility
Though quite rich in varied soundscapes and meticulous in its arrangement, most of the album is acoustic-based, with slowly opening chords that embark on concise passages filled with texture and ambience. Never too heavy or fast, the album moves at a glacial pace, evoking feelings of freejazz without utilising many of its elements. With the exception of the title track, an amazing bass-centred track, exuding pastoral acoustic guitars, tasteful percussion, and cascading riff explosions, The Delivery delves into slightly jazzy areas, best noticed on "The Discovery" and "The Shape Song". The former breaking the ten-minute mark sees Aaron Fanning playing great brush drums whilst segments of acoustic guitars are draped over it gently. The song does pick up pace somewhere in the middle, touching on great riffs and bass arpeggios, not to mention the amazing keyboard work that surrounds the whole thing gluing the sounds and creating a unified theme. Bells and fully acoustic sections echo distantly in the end before storming drums take over and climax perfectly at the final note. (Click on link above to read full review...)

Solagget has produced a timeless cd that grows, experientially, with you.
author: Rick Winfrey
This CD changes and grows as you grow. The songs represent and ellicit moods and emotions that you grow to become aware of, meaning that this CD is a great accompaniment to the journey of life. Never heard the same way twice, each song represents an old friend, that is something akin to sharing a chat on a Sunday afternoon on a park bench. Check in, check out, this CD reaches beyond a time frame or period, and is one that I will be coming back to again and again.

The Delivery is an unforgettable and necessary ride.
author: Jedd Beaudoin for F5
On The Delivery Solagget — drummer Aaron Fanning, guitarist David Lord and bassist Sean Fanning — moves us through 10 contemporary pastoral pieces that are as married to tradition as they are committed to forging new territories. Graced with a talent for contrasting moments of ultimate serenity with moments of soul-searching disquiet, the trio carries us from the uplifting title track to the reflective ballad "The Shape Song" to the inspired and restless closer "Seagull Took My Name." Shaped by contemporary influences such as Tortoise and Stereolab the outfit is also informed by the uncompromising bombast of The Who and textural and harmonic complexity of fine orchestral music. The Fannings create an unstoppable rhythm section that doesn't as much serve as a mere backdrop to Lord's beautifully transparent guitar lines but more as a contrapuntal environment that reminds there is a full musical landscape to consume within Solagget's masterful works. But there are other layers as well and Micajah Ryan's deft production touches also allow the music's true essence to shine through while rewarding the patient and detail-oriented listener upon repeat visits. Hear it once or hear it 100 times The Delivery is an unforgettable and necessary ride from this thoughtful, musically — and emotionally — intelligent band.
