Carolann Solebello is a native New Yorker who spent several years touring the nation as a professional theatre actor before finding her way back home as part of "folkabilly blues" duo BLIND DIVA (with singer-songwriter Hope Nunnery). After going solo in 1998, her rich voice and distinctive brand of urban folk graced acoustic rooms in New York City as well as watering holes in exotic locations like New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Kansas.
In 1999, she formed CC RAILROAD with fellow singer-songwriters Rich Boniface, Ryder Daniels, and Cheryl Prashker, performing with this funky folk foursome through several tours and two albums, until divergent family and career paths took the members to four different states in 2005.
Currently, Carolann is a member of the Americana/roots trio RED MOLLY (with Laurie MacAllister and Abbie Gardner), who have been tearing up stages all over the northeast. RED MOLLY's first full-length album, Never Been to Vegas, was released in July 2006, and is also available here at CD Baby.
Just Across the Water, Carolann's 2000 solo effort, is a stylistically eclectic, lyrically-driven collection of songs of innocence and experience. Featuring ten original "urban folk" tunes, this album highlights Carolann's dramatic vocal style and sweet acoustic guitar while spotlighting several stellar guests - cellist Michele Moyer, upright bassist Matt Scharfglass (of MRS. GRUNDY), plus percussionists Brendan McGowan and Cheryl Prashker (late of CC RAILROAD).
Carolann lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband, Mark, and baby son, Felix.

A sassy and fun CD
author: Steve Denes
People love New York, and Carolann is one of the things that people love about New York. I thoroughly enjoyed Carolann Solebello's solo CD, Just Across the Water. Now that I live in the New York area, I have become a fan of local musical talents. Carolann's clean voice and smart lyrics form a compilation of songs that are fun and whimsical, sassy and interestingly refreshing--not your typical folk fare. Her voice is one of the strongest female pop voices in the business. And her style and personality perfectly compliment her music, and audiences are the richer for it. Great work.

A fantastic debut album for Ms. Solebello
author: R. Benjamin
In her fantastic debut CD, Ms. Carolann Solebello deftly combines full-throated vocals and thought-provoking lyrics with a full range of smooth instrumentals. From the street flavor of "New York Shoes" to the bouncy "Jose" to the flowing lyricism of the title track, Solebello proves she is up to any musical challenge. I highly recommend this album.

I loved it! I wanna hear it twice more!
author: Lee Willis
"Just Across the Water" manages to be both eclectic and consistent in tone, thanks in large part to the well-defined vocals that Ms. Solebello provides. The production is smooth but not bloated, her singing is fabulous and the material is top-notch. Buy this disc now, wait a few years, and then tell your friends that you were one of the first.
