Sol e Mar draws on traditional and popular styles
of dance music from Brazil and Cuba. This collection introduces the styles of samba, candomble, Axe, maracatu, pagode, afoxe, capoeira, conga, rumba de cajon, bata, son and conjunto in a unique way with a very modern sound. Percussion Avalanche consists of 16 tracks and is 58 minutes in length.
Sol e Mar is a unique, versatile band expert in all things Latin, Caribbean, Cuban and Brazilian. The band plays the perfect style for any given event. A small combo that plays elegant bossa nova and cha cha cha or a high energy dance band that can deliver styles like Salsa, Samba, Reggae, Calypso, Soca, Merengue. Samba or Salsa dancers and Carnaval traditions from everywhere are woven into a complete floor show with authentic choreography by captivating performers. Sol e Mar's players are established musicians,composers,producers,professors as well as being highly skilled percussionsts that specialize in Carnaval Parades of Brasil with Escola de Samba and Cuba where the famous conga line was born. Sol e Mar has provided just the right music/show for countless corporations, festivals and Conventions from Am-way to Qualcomm and has collaborated with all the largest dance collectives of Southern California. Having performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Sergio Mendes at the Hollywood Bowl this group has the highest standards of musicianship and professionalism. For special events Sol e Mar has included special guests with the biggest names in Cuban and Brazilian percussion on the west coast who are recognized as masters in Brazil, Cuba, and Trinidad. Sol e Mar's first release "Percussion Avalanche " was released in 2002.
