Album Notes

Sherry Somach has a distinctive vocal style. Once you hear her voice you will mistake her for no other vocalist. She is working with an amazing palette of colors and textures.

One moment you will think you are at a smoky low-lit piano bar, and she will sing a sultry bluesy ballad. Then she will make you laugh with an upbeat song with her razor sharp wit and view of contemporary relationship issues. Then while you are laughing she will steal into your heart and get your emotions stirred with one of her soulful songs from the heart. Sherry is also an accomplished guitarist. She knows her way around tasty jazz chords and can swing!!

Sherry Somach has been around the block...and out of the neighborhood!! She brings a lot of insight that comes with it.

Each time I listen to this CD, I discover more value. Somach's lyrics and the way she delivers them, plus the music that accompanies them, are magnificent as well as subtle. The CD contains some of the best piano work I've heard in a long time. The instrumentalists are all superlative, but I tend to fixate on piano, since that's my own instrument. The only fault I can find with the album is that it's not five albums, since I want to hear more.

Sherry's deep respect for traditional blues and her love of a good melody makes her a fine songwriter. The fact that she has a rich and resonant voice is icing on the cake. A very tasty album.

It was refreshing to hear the rich homely voice and realise that good music has not gone forever. Well recorded and easy on the ear.
