WHAT THEY'RE SAYING-
Somebody's Closet conveys a contemporary mixture of jazz/funk and folk/rock fusion with a very earthy, rootsy tone. Brian Headlee kicks the infectious polyrhythmic grooves on the drum kit. Jeff Bujak splits his brain open to lay down the heart thumping low end with his left hand and the melodic key tones with his right, swapping leads with Justin Eck who adds stylishly percussive rhythms on acoustic guitar. His potent vocals mesh with the angelic, yet alluringly sultry voice of Christine D. Eck who also adds some spice with her array of world percussion instruments. The lyrical imagery spins out of the transcendental souls of Somebody's Closet and makes way to eager hearts all across the country.
"Somebody's Closet breathes new life to the long lost art - real music." Scott Wellington, Miami New Times, 2004
Somebody's Closet was created in Tempe, AZ and now bases out of Northampton, MA. With several U.S. tours, 3 albums along with countless live recordings in circulation, and a 'Best Jam Band of 2003' award at the Arizona Infusion of Music Awards under the belt, Somebody's Closet's popularity grows by the day. Linking songs with segues and including mind altering jams, the live show is their main product.
"The world would be a better place if everyone listened to Somebody's Closet." Dave Terpany, KyndMusic.com 2005
WHAT WE'RE SAYING-
We started out in Tempe, AZ by forces unknown. Brian is from Omaha, NE; Justin is from Fairfield, CT; Christine is from Minneapolis, MN; Jeff is from Syracuse, NY. Other members have also participated in the journey of Somebody's Closet at previous times. We are not sure how or why we all ended up in AZ at the same time, but there we were, a group of people looking to make some music and have a good time. The styles and sounds coming from Somebody's Closet was a melting pot of so many different influences and to this day, it has never been accurately defined. So, we continued forward without a particluar musical direction with no boundaries or rules. One can easily discover this by listening to each album released by the Closet. They are all very different from each other. You never know what's inside Somebody's Closet.
We played AZ for a few years, made some recordings, and decided to hit the road. We had some successful tours in the Midwest and Northeast and decided to keep doing it. We booked up an East Coast tour from the North all the way South to Miami. When we tried to leave Florida, the tour vehicle broke down and we were stranded... for four months! Needless to say, we never made it back home to AZ. By the time we got out of Miami we had shows lined up in the Northeast again. So we stayed. Experiences since our last album "Road to Flight" have brought many new changes to the sounds of the Closet. Our newest release Breeze of Transition, shows yet another step in the evolution of the Closet's sound. We are currently based in Northampton, MA and really enjoy discovering all the friendly faces along our path. We are on tour more often than not, so look for us in or near your town.
