Album Notes

Sanctioned Autobiographical Statement

Something Left After Misfortune (aka "S.L.A.M.") was founded in Atlanta in 1999 by Chris Burkett (vocals), Toma Oliver (guitar), Chris Langley (drums) and Casey Kline (guitar). They set out to give rock music fans something new. Tiring of the "my dad spanked me too much" aggro rock spewing from the lips of upper middle income children posing as rock stars, the four decided that it was again time to make loud rock that conveys more substantive messages.

Official band mission statement:

We sincerely strive to treat our fans as intelligent individuals and not degrade them by force spoon feeding stale ideas and trendy, glossy images and regarding them as a single mass particle. On a completely different note, our lead singer is an alien.

In September 2002 S.L.A.M. released it's second EP, cleverly titled, Something Left After Misfortune.

Act now (!), and you will also receive:

- meticulously arranged, textured, dynamic guitar work
- fierce, dominating rhythms and percussion (intricate too!)
- thought provoking lyrical imagery
- live shows featuring an all out visual and aural assault of pure rock fury

Who we sound like:(hey, wait, you don't need for us to tell you that!)

REVIEWS

This is the devil's music if i've ever heard it. Satin would be proud.
author: Samalama
When I first saw the CD it had 666 written all over it. Take for instance the song ,Strobe Light. Strobe Light spelled backwards is Thgil Eborts, which is another name for Satin in the book "Black Mass". When they take me away for shooting my neighbor, I'll have to say that this CD told me to do it.

These guys Rock!
author: Ronwell
What can I say? These guys really rock. The CD has quite a few kick-A$$ guitar riffs, hard-hitting, well-produced drums, and some truly well-writen vocal melodies. As for the actual lyrics, I didn't quite understand all of them.. some of the socio-political commentary kind of flew past me. But hey! At least the lyrics aren't centered around the cry-baby, white-boy pain motif that we've all grown to love and cherish (I'm being sarcastic with the love and cherish part). I give them 5 stars, and that's five stars more than I would give most mainstream bands if they were to post a CD here. Peace out. -Ronwell
